Umeme's Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Charles Chapman as the new Managing Director, in accordance with the Company's succession plan.
Until his appointment, Charles (pictured below) has been the Chief Operating Officer at Umeme.
The Board have also expressed their appreciation for the achievements of Mr Paul Mare, following his decision to step down and join his family in South Africa.
Charles formerly worked as Head of ESB Customer Supply, the Irish Electricity Utility and prior to that worked for Inchcape P.L.C. in a number of senior roles based in the Middle East, Greece and U.K.
The Management of Umeme wishes to thank Paul Mare for his tremendous role in increasing the level of service to the Ugandan economy by transforming the electricity industry in Uganda from an integrated utility with 140,000 customers, to the current privatized structure with over 300,000 customers.
